Don't Trust Round the Clock Cleaners!

Don't use Round the Clock Cleaners if you value your clothes! I will always regret trusting them. Round the Clock Cleaners in Pasadena destroyed a vintage cashmere coat and almost ruined my wedding dress.

Round the Clock Cleaners in Pasadena, CA doesn't know anything about the care or storage of fine or unusual fabrics. I feel sorry for anyone who entrusts delicate and cherished clothes to these people. If you want to know what happened, my story is below:

I dropped off two items at Round the Clock Cleaners in Pasadena (115 North Lake, Pasadena, CA 91101): a vintage cream-colored cashmere coat and my hand-made ivory silk satin wedding dress. I wanted the coat cleaned, and I wanted them to try to remove some old stains that were on it. I knew that the age of the coat might make it impossible to remove all the stains but I did not expect Round the Clock Cleaners unskilled workers to scrub so hard they irreparably damaged large sections of the coat! The stains I wanted removed were small and inconspicuous. The marks Round the Clock Cleaners left on my coat were large and very noticeable. And, since Round the Clock Cleaners damaged the fabric, there's no way I can repair it.

I guess I should consider myself lucky that all the damage Round the Clock Cleaners caused to my wedding dress is repairable, even if they did seriously rip me off. I gave Round the Clock my hand-made all silk wedding dress to be professionally cleaned and boxed for long-term storage. The service cost $130 dollars. When I got the dress back, the zipper was broken, much of the decorative beading was gone, Round the Clock Cleaners had pressed out the pleats, and steamed the bust-curve into the back of the dress! (They did this despite the fact that the dress had a train in the back!). Round the Clock didn't even box the dress properly.

Under the layers of impressive-looking acid-free gold boxes, my beloved dress that my mother worked so hard to make was wrapped in a disposable plastic bag!

For those who don't know, lightweight plastic bags are unsuitable for long-term storage because they out-gas and deteriorate over time, causing discoloration and sometimes destruction of the fabric inside. This effect is especially pronounced on delicate or light colored fabrics like the ivory silk satin of my dress.

Round the Clock Cleaners also didn't pad the folds in the dress with acid-free paper to prevent creases. The clerk said she didn't know they were supposed to do that - but such methods are standard procedure for long-term storage of fine and delicate fabrics.

When I picked up my dress, the clerk had acted surprised that I wanted to open the box to inspect my dress before taking it home. But I'm glad I did. If I had accepted the box as is and stored it, my dress would have been ruined within a year.

My mother worked so hard to sew my wedding dress, and I will always cherish the dress for the memory of my wedding and all the work that went into it. I wanted to preserve the dress for my daughters, I wanted to show them what an amazing seamstress their grandmother was - and this dress was the last of her major works, as she is now loosing her sight to glaucoma. It makes me so mad to think about how close I came to losing it.

Round the Clock Cleaners are terrible. Don't trust them with your clothes!

I hope this blog comes up when people search the web for dry cleaners in Pasadena California. I am so angry about Round the Clock Cleaners poor work and even worse customer service that I want everyone to know what they did to me.
